How do I clean the toys my cat has?
It’s important to clean your cat’s toys so that dirt, bacteria, and other things that could be bad for your cat’s health don’t build up on them. Here are some suggestions for how to clean your cat’s toys:
Check the tag: Some cat toys come with instructions on how to clean them, so check the label before you clean them.
Wash fabric toys. Stuffed animals or blankets made of fabric can be washed in the washing machine with hot water and a mild detergent. Check the toy’s care label to make sure it can be put in the washing machine.
Wipe down plastic toys. You can use a damp cloth or sponge and mild soap to wipe down plastic toys like balls or tunnels.
Soak in vinegar: If your cat’s toys have a strong smell, soak them for about 30 minutes in a mixture of white vinegar and water.
Dry completely: After washing the toys, make sure they are completely dry before giving them back to your cat. Dry fabric toys by letting them air dry, and dry plastic toys with a clean towel.
Replace broken toys. If any of your cat’s toys are broken or showing signs of wear and tear, it’s best to replace them to keep your cat safe.
By cleaning your cat’s toys often, you can keep them healthy and happy and also make their toys last longer.
